Some Pregnancy Guidance Books

These books are recommended for those who are pregnant (for the first time especially) and want to know about pregnancy and how to take care or look after their babies..

1. The Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy (author: Vicki Iovine)

image

This book consists of experiences of many pregnant ladies which mostly came from the author and her girlfriends’ experiences. Since pregnant moms experience some or many new and strange symptoms, this book will be useful to make them understand that those symptoms are natural and happen to many other pregnant ladies. Besides, this book also tells how to overcome all coming problems and confusions. This book tells things when our doctors can’t tell all.

2. The Baby Book (author: William Sears, M.D. & Martha Sears, R.N.)

image

I haven’t read all five book series in this one-package-book, but this book says that it consists of everything we need to know about our baby since born till two years old. Maybe many parents sugest to do one particular same thing to the babies, but the authors of this book say that if we do the opposite of it, it’ll be more effective for the growing of the baby. And they won’t write those if they haven’t practiced those. Everything they wrote have been proven effective to their patients. For this book, I must thank to Toil alias Dita. Thank you, aunty Ditaaa…β™₯ πŸ˜€

3. Baby Whisperer (author: Tracy Hogg)

There are some series of these books. I order three series from outside country by ebay (because this is a rare book in Indonesia while I have tried to find it in different book stores in different cities), but we just received one of three ordered books. The author of this book teach us how to communicateΒ  with our baby who can’t talk yet, by recognizing their cues, their whine, and their cry. This is important so we don’t mistreat them.

Those are books which are represantive enough for newly mothers. Because we want the best for our child, don’t we?

P.S.: this is the last usg picture of my baby. He/she (we still don’t know the gender yet) is doing “koprol”. Amazing, kid. You always successfully make us amazed. My friends said that it was because his/her attractive mother… -_-”

Movie Quote : Kung Fu Panda 2

This is the part of Kung Fu Panda 2 movie that I like the most. The conversation part when Po came to Master Croc & Master Ox’s prison to set them free and ask them to fight against Shen who will destroy Kung Fu, but they (Master Croc & Master Ox) refused to join Po. And here what Po said against their refusal….

Master Ox: It’s time to surrender, panda. Kung Fu is dead.
[in despair]
Po: I…ooh…you…you…! Kung Fu is de…ad! Fine! You stay in your prison of fear, with bars made of hopelessness. And all you get are three square meals a day of shame!
Master Croc: With despair for dessert.
Po: We’ll take on Shen. And prove to all those who are hungry for justice and honor, that Kung Fu still lives!
[a boar in one of the prison cells shouts bleakly]
Boar: Yeah!

Yes, those bold lines are my most favourite line Po said. What’s yours? πŸ˜€

“How the Legend Ends” – The Dark Knight Rises (2012)

SYNOPSIS – “The Dark Knight is back. Not as a hero for Gotham society, but as a fugitive hunted by GPD (Gotham Police Department) instead. Batman is accused guilty of Harvey Dent’s death (in previous movie). Plus more, the death of her girl friend makes Bruce Wayne lock himself in his big house and not showing up in front of public for years. Bruce thought that Gotham is safe and doesn’t need Batman anymore, which is actually only his excuse for his unwillingness to move on. Until one day, the appearance of Bane, who is also the student of Ra’s Al Ghul (Wayne’s previous mentor who is already dead), which has willing to destroy Gotham city, forced Wayne to put his batsuit back on. “

Standing applause for The Dark Knight Rises! More standing ovation for its genius director, Christopher Nolan! Awalnya tidak berharap film The Dark Knight Rises akan melebihi bagusnya film batman sebelumnya, The Dark Knight. Tapi ternyata…. Wow! Christopher Nolan did never dissapoint me yet. Bravo for them all…

Unpredictable. Overall, I grant this movie as the best movie of 2012, with 9.5/10 rate (in iMDB, this movie rates 9.1/10).

Once again, I thanked Christopher Nolan. You’ve outdone yourself, again…

Somehow This Movie Entertains Me

If you want to watch a movie that you never heard before about, then you feel a bit (or many) doubt whether it’s a good movie or not… Very simple, I’ll suggest you to search the movie in imdb.com, then see the rating of the movie. Kalo menilai ke-layak-ditonton-an sebuah film, biasanya menurut gw nih… film yg ratingnya 7 ke atas berarti termasuk very recommended, rating 6 termasuk acceptable, dan rating 5 ke bawah termasuk rejected area (in other words, better don’t waste your time watching it). But there’s an exception. Kalo filmny rating 5 ke bawah tapi diperankan oleh aktor2/aktris2 favorit gw yg biasanya maen di film lain yg termasuk oke, it’s an okay-to-watch movie for me. Jadi, film “All About Steve” termasuk kategori yang mana? Pertama, gw liat pemain2nya dulu sekilas. Hmm.. yg maen terkenal, ada Sandra Bullock (if I’m not mistaken, she is also the producer of this movie) & the cute (hehe) Bradley Cooper. Kedua, gw cek dulu dong di IMDB, secara gw blm pernah dgr ttg nih film. Awalnya gw nebak ratingnya at least 6 (because Sandra Bullock wins an Oscar award from her previous movie), but turns out only 4.8/10. Hmmm.. tp berhubung pemain2nya gw suka (esp. Bradley Cooper *mata berbinar2*), sooo it’s an okay-to-watch movie for me.

Emang tentang apa sih ceritanya? Film ini intinya, menceritakan ttg seorang cewek bernama Mary yg memiliki pekerjaan sbg pembuat TTS di sebuah koran lokal dan tidak memiliki banyak kehidupan sosial di luar pekerjaannya. Banyak yg menyebut si Mary ini sbg gadis yg abnormal, because she is a geek who can’t stop rattling and has no much difference with a walking encyclopedia. But, besides that, this girl is a nice, cheerful, and spiritful human being. Then suddenly she falls in love and is obsessed with a guy from her set-up blind date named Steve. She expresses her love & desire with strange ways. One of them is by making a crossword which is published in public news paper where all of the answers are things about Steve, and then she follows him everywhere he goes.

Intinya gitu ya ceritanya. Nah, film ini meski ratingnya termasuk rendah, tapi menurut gw it’s unique, has the unpredictable ending, and funny. It somehow really entertains me. Unik, karena bercerita ttg sesuatu yg jarang pernah orang pikirkan. Pernah gak mikirin siapa yg mengarang TTS or crosswords di setiap koran Minggu biasanya? Honestly, I never had a thought of “who usually creates this crosswords in this Sunday paper? Apa yg buat selalu orang yg sama dan kerjaannya sehari2 cuma bikin TTS?”. Gara2 film ini ya jadi kepikiran. And yes, menurut gw endingnya tmasuk yg gak pada umumnya film komedi-romantis. Funny? Yeppp, I did laughed while watching this movie.

So, to sum up, I do like this movie, and I always will watch Bradley Cooper’s movies πŸ˜€

Notes from Qatar, a Very Inspirative Book for Me

Yes. I believe that many of you have heard about this book. A book written by a very young man at my age (in other words, I’m still also very young :p), an Indonesian who just finished his master education in Qatar then wrote his experiences & shared his knowledge in his blog which now summarized and able to be consumed by public in a book (well, two books already now actually) titled “Notes from Qatar”. Karin (my soulmateee :*) recommended me to read this book when I was in a very down condition. What kind of condition? The very lowest condition of mine. The hopeless and very miserable feeling I felt that time made me blame God and did not know anymore what I should pray to God, coz I thought that saying my pray to God is useless and unheard. Yes, I was that low and I am really not proud of my condition that time.

So, I went to the only Gramedia book store in the city (but I’ll always miss the Gramedia book store in Grand Indonesia, oh how lovely), bought the book and read it as I arrived at my kosan. Instantly, I loved the book since the very first page, especially to the sentence that the writer wrote which sounds like “There’s no growth in comfort zone, and there’s no comfort in growth zone. So we must leave our comfort zone to grow”. At the moment, I thought “Damn, that’s what I’m feeling! This city isn’t my comfort zone at all. Soo I guess I should’ve been glad that this is the right place for me to grow”. Page by page, I kept reading it, and.. I cried (yes, I am a whiny girl). I was ashamed of myself. How could I have a very negative thinking to God? How could I be that arrogant to God that I felt I didn’t want to pray anymore that time to God? We must have a positive thinking to God and to ourselves, that’s what the author taught me through his experiences & hadists that he also quoted in his writings. Positive, Persistance, and Pray (3P), that what he said, in order to get what we want. He didn’t just say it, he experienced it all. So, we, as readers, would believe in him.

Another thing that made me amazed from reading that book. About the power of alms or ‘sedekah’. He has often given his alms to many people who need it, and he always gets the minimum of 10 times real return from God. Many of his ‘unbelievable’ lucks that he got from his alms. Gosh, you have to read it to really see how the ‘sedekah’ works and read Q.S. Al-Baqarah [2]: 261 to see what God promises to us. Another learning I got from this book is that God NEVER deny his promises and that’s it’s a hundred percent okay for us to do some good things in hoping of good return from God. So I made promise to myself that from now on, I won’t hesitate to give my alms to any people who need it.

To sum up, I really recommend anyone to read “Notes from Qatar”. Very helpful and able to open our mind and our heart. It’s not hard to swallow either since he wrote it with his blog-style writing. And FYI, currently there’s already the sequel book which titled “Notes from Qatar 2 : Honest, Humble, and Helpful” which is also recommended to read. At last, I wanna say thank you very much to the author, who gave a very valuable lessons for me, and also to Karin who recommended this book to me when I was feeling down (kiss & hug, muachh!!).

P.S : I have proven the power of ‘sedekah’. I once did it and Alhamdulillah God gave me ‘something’ which is unmeasurable by money. God finally gave me what I have wanted & needed & prayed when I was feeling down as I told before. God finally granted my biggest wish. Grateful for it. Thank You, Allah…

Season 7, Eps. 10

“When you meet the right person, you know it.
You can’t stop thinking about them.
They’re your best friend and your soul mate.
You can’t wait to spend the rest of your life with them.
No one and nothing else can compare..”

That’s what Nora’s (Barney Stinson’s girlfriend) father said to Barney. Ain’t it right? πŸ™‚

“I’ll Be There For Youuuu….”

Hey, don’t get bored every time you ask what I was doing and get an answer “watching FRIENDS” from me, okay πŸ™‚ . Coz it is my most favourite tv series that I’ll always gonna love to keep watching over & over again, hehe… But now, all 10 seasons of FRIENDS have been finally watched by me (Voila! Yay!)! Very old tv series, but still never failed in making me laugh out loud in every episode of it. Mmm… what I love about that tv series is… everything. The six strong characters, the stories, the jokes. If I were asked which one of those 6 characters was my favourite one, God, I don’t think I could choose, coz I love all of them. They’re all so funny. Not just the dialogues that made it so, but also their faces / mimics. There are Rachel with all her whiny acts, Ross with all his super exaggerating acts, Chandler with all his stupid jokes, Monica with all her crazy organized perfectionism, Phoebe with all her weird songs & stuffs she believed and said, and finally Joey with all his plainness.

I also love all of the episodes, without any exceptions. Nevertheless, there are 2 episodes which are so touche for me that I’ll always remember. First, in an episode that I forgot in which season (forgive my bad memory ability, but it was in season 1 or 2 I believe :D), there is a moment when Rachel was feeling very vulnerable & afraid of her own future, but then she looked at her five friends playing very happily in Monica’s apartment then she smiled and said to herself “I’m fine“. I really know how Rachel felt that time! Coz I felt it too. The peaceful feeling when you see and be with your close friends made all uneasiness you felt before just disappeared. Yeah, I felt what Rachel felt πŸ™‚

My another touche episode is the very last episode (eps.17) in season 10 of FRIENDS. It is when Rachel (her again, readers, hehe) chose Ross (the love of her life) over her dream job in Paris. She chose love over carrier! Gosh, it is the thing that I mostly will do, too. Well, I already did it, actually. I sometimes thought, will it be the best choice if we choose love over carrier? Will it make me regret? Well, for me, love is more important than carrier. Family always comes first, right? That’s always the rule. So, I’d rather lose my dream job than lose the love of my life. Because love makes me happier than any job in the world. It’s good if we can have both, a dream lover and a dream job. But if we can’t have both, well, I’ll say that I’ll choose love over carrier. Just like what Rachel did.

Although I’ve watched all 238 episodes, but I don’t think I will ever get bored if I repeat watching the tv series over again. That’s why I’ll always keep this best-comedy-tv-series-I’ve-ever-watched in my Hard Disc / DVD forever. πŸ™‚
